Day 115: Home

July 11, 2020

Shelter in Place, San Francisco, California

When my neighbor gave me this Asian Lily bulb a few years ago, he said, “I thought it might remind you of home.” He was right, though the “home” he referred to was Minnesota where I lived for much of my adult life, not the place where my roots and, increasingly, my heart are - Eastern Pennsylvania. Lilies thrive in both places; they’re not so ubiquitous here. Still, this one has bloomed for me every year - a colorful burst of short duration, kind of like my visits home.
