Backyard Haiku Week 13

The ferns unfurl like

Dragons waking slowly from

A long winter’s sleep.

Old-fashioned lilac

lends sweet and stunning fragrance

To the morning’s breeze.

###

I’ve allowed myself

To feel hopeful about spring.

At least that’s something….?

###

I hear it nearby,

The red-bellied woodpecker,

Calling for a mate

###

Redbud compliments

The dogwood as the two trees

Blossom side by side
###

These lovely blossoms

Wreak havoc on garden’s edge -

Lesser calendine!

###

The birds sing loud to

Drown out the sound of chainsaws

Cutting down their trees.
