Beneath the showier signs of spring a fern quietly sprouts new fronds. There’s nearly nothing so miraculous as the unfurling of a fern leaf from its perfect spiral start. Fiddleheads. New life beginning in the shadows.
Today we will join a virtual gathering for nephew Luke’s wedding, an event that has been postponed several times, one we’ve been looking forward to for well over a year - with our tickets booked and clothes picked out. But after postponing the wedding several times (and posting revised invitations and un-invitations more than once), the bride and groom have decided to get on with their new life. “We have things to do,” they said and everyone agrees wholeheartedly it’s for the best. I will sorely miss the family gathering we’ve been hoping for - the smiles, the hugs, the laughs - but on the brighter side, this is a wedding I’ll never forget. None of us will, especially Luke and Mary who are ready for what comes next.
Happy wedding, dear ones. We’re on the couch, all dressed up from head to waist and ready for the toast!
